Umm, it's retail because you have to buy it from the shop.....you just don't need to pay-to-play.

I''ve been playing Rappelz over the last week, and its a really good game once you get the hang of it.

2 new games I just downloaded are kickin some serious ass.

1) Silkroad Online (asian theme, beautiful game, very detailed, f2p/cashshop
2) Hero Online (I love this one even more, also an asian theme, the gold and loot drops are absolutely wonderful ((so much instant gratification from this game)), character fighting animations are awesome, controls are an easy learning curve) f2p/cashshop

I highly recommend trying both of them out. Look for the English versions to download.

I've tried all of those Gpotato MMOs, they're pretty much just your average Korean MMO grind-fest. I also hate the fact that they won't run at any resolution higher than 1024x768, which looks horrible on an LCD with a higher native resolution.

I have "Silkroad Online" set to widescreen on my 21' lcd with over 1600 resolution and it runs very smooth.

Im waiting to check out Dungen Runner. The graphics don't look the best, but it sounds like a fun "diablo style" hack and slash to wast time on untill the next GW chapter.

The Gamespot review gave Archlord a 2.7 out of 10. I particularly thought this line was funny.

Ive yet to find a PURE microtransaction game that has good content without buying anything.

They put as little content as possible in there for free, its all a timesink. Ive played Rappelz, Maplestory, Flyff, etc.

They are all fun....for a while. Then you come to the horrible realization.

You can't do very well in the game without spending REAL money.

Its a real life money sink.

IMO ANY game where you have to spend real money on the best items is a load of trash. It's as bad as selling power for real life money. It's like,"give us money we make you own." This system doesnt favor skill or hard work or hard earned levels, it just favors the rich kid who has all the money to waste.

Savage was pretty fun...not sure if anyone plays it anymore, but yeah.

It was an FPS/RTS. If you were the lead of the team, you'd basically be playing an RTS. You could create the village, have your villagers collect materials to supply your troops with money for weapons / upgrades.

If you were anyone but the leader, you were playing an FPS with bows / lightning guns / swords...just crazy stuff. Nothing ridiculous like rocket launchers but things of that magnitude did exist. Just in different weapon forms.

It was pretty fun. Nothing OMG WOW, but fun. It was free to play after you purchased it, and it was all online. I know they released a free expansion, too, which added a new race or something and a bunch of new maps.

The thing with Archlord is...the "Archlord"-system is not implemented yet. So there is no Archlord in Archlord

Also its suppose to be "hardcore-pvp".

Wow, I normally consider reviews hogwash and ignore them seeing how WoW got so many good reviews and I found it to be the most boring game I have ever seen, who the hell wants to run around from one side of the map to the other for a 2-3 hour quest?, and GW got good reviews but did not live up to my expectations 100%, at least not to the point where I would go out and buy the expantions. However I have seen nothing but bad reviews for this game which I guess is good and bad. Bad because the game will most likely be a flop, and good because it will be that much easier to become the ruler dude... not that you would have much to rule over though.

Hmm, I don't really know how to think, pictures look ok, but reviews make it sound like they should be paying me $50 to play the game. Which is a shame because they had a rather intresting concept that intrests me.

The far East has been pumping out relatively ok MMOs for a while now. As far as lasting appeal, in my opinion, they tend to crap out after a few months at most. However, a good 3rd person shooter that's free:GunZ the Duel. Very matrixy, and free. ijji.com has the north america version, but GunZ.com has the International version, both in english, the American one has a good number of players. NO THIS ISN'T AN AD! And by the way, EWWWWW for mentioning runescape, SO LAME!

If your going to play a worthwhile MMO its really about the big 3 right now. Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and Lineage 2.

i was in the beta for this game, it wasnt the best game. the reviews when it was pay to play wasnt all that great either. i dont think it will ever be as good as guild wars EVER!!!

Sorry to stray off topic a bit...but...

I think games where you can pay to be better really do suck.
I played Survival Project (www.survival.com.my). It was a really tremendous game imo. It started selling 'Golden Cards' (basically give your 'special skills' a higher chance to activate and easier to upgrade). This gave people who could buy them the upper edge in combat.

Tbph I don't see the point in playing a game if you can simply spend your earned money on making yourself better at it.

Edit: Just checked that game over again..turns out their auctioning off in game items for 'E-Points' (Virtual Currency purchased with real money)
